A lazy afternoon

Open the book,
Graze through a few lines..
The page stays unturned for eons
As if waiting for that gust of wind.

I let the literature slip back
Back in the slot it was meant to be

Put on the television,
Fiddle with remote
The up down side arrows
Till my fingers let go...

My laptop screen  flickers neglected
Just like the tube light on the nearby street.

A look at the outside..
The vendor with cool drink
 just a few steps away...
My mind crawls towards him
But then I say- some other day

The grandfather clock dallies through each hour
I grope through the piles of board games
Random pieces stacked like a leaning tower

The fan's painfully slow
Screeching to a halt when the eleCtricity goes
Drops of sweat....
Trickling down my forehead

While on the cold floor I lay low
Counting the minutes to the sunset...
The scorching sun finally tires..
Giving up after a hot day with a final bow..

Hurry towards the door
Welcoming the evening glow...
The vendor smiles seeing me step out
Filling my usual drink to-go

A lazy afternoon well spent,
Part of my every single day...
Each moment felt, till my soul is fed,
What it wants, to dance rest of the way
